In a significant shift within the Kenyan government, President William Ruto has appointed Munyori Buku as the new Head of the Presidential Communication Service (PCS). The announcement was confirmed by State House Spokesperson Mohamed Hussein, emphasizing Buku's extensive experience in strategic communication, which spans over 26 years in both public and private sectors.
Before taking on this pivotal role, Buku served as the Secretary for Public Communication at State House, where he was instrumental in shaping communication strategies. His career includes notable positions such as Senior Director of Public Communication and Director of Communication in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Finance. In the media sector, he has held prominent editorial roles, including Managing Editor at the Standard Group and Sub-Editor at the Nation Media Group.
Buku holds a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University. His appointment comes at a crucial time, as the government seeks to enhance its communication efforts amidst ongoing political challenges and the need for effective public engagement.
As he steps into this critical position, there are high expectations for Buku to effectively convey the government’s policies and initiatives, especially during this period of significant political change in Kenya. His leadership in the PCS will likely play a crucial role in shaping the public's perception of the current administration.
