Kenya’s Olympic and world champion Faith Kipyegon has announced plans to build a maternity facility in Keringet, Nakuru County, in a move aimed at improving maternal and newborn health in her home community.

The project, named “Dare to Dream” maternity ward, will provide safe, accessible, and dignified childbirth services for women who currently have to travel long distances to access proper medical care. The facility is expected to play a key role in reducing childbirth complications and improving outcomes for both mothers and babies.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Kipyegon shared that the initiative was inspired by the challenges she witnessed growing up in Keringet, where many women gave birth without adequate medical support. She said the project is her way of giving back and ensuring that no woman has to risk her life while bringing a child into the world.

The maternity ward will be built with support from partners and the local community, reflecting a shared commitment to improving healthcare at the grassroots. Beyond infrastructure, the project also represents hope, dignity, and opportunity for families in the region.

Faith Kipyegon’s decision to invest in maternal health shows that her legacy extends far beyond medals and records — it is about building life, protecting mothers, and shaping the future of communities.
